Advent and Class Updates / Adviento y novedades sobre las clase

Hello and Blessings to everyone. I hope that your Thanksgiving day was full of love surrounded by all your family and friends, and that memories for years to come were made.

I wanted to give you all a quick update:

Advent season is upon us, and I pray that you enter the season ready to accept Our Lord. Just as we are preparing our homes for the birth of Baby Jesus, let us prepare ourselves.

The kids will be on the lookout for the changes in the church. Colors, especially the Advent Wreath, I ask that you help point things out, too. The candle being lit, what does it mean, and how can we as good Christians do this week? Look for the new missals too, show the kids that you notice the changes too.

The kids were all sent home with an Advent Calendar. Try to follow along and participate in the activities (if you can) or modify them to your liking. 

Find ways to bring this season to life in your own home, and I truly ask from the bottom of my heart to try and stay away from the commercialism of the season. We all love gifts and spending, but we get lost in that and forget to get ourselves and our homes ready to receive the birth of our Saviour in a manger.

As you have noticed, we have been moved to a new classroom. The reason behind it is that the school teacher whose class we used is a bit special and didn't appreciate that our kids touched, moved, or broke items in her class. To this day, I have not received a clear answer as to what exactly happened. It happened the day I had to attend a work event. 

I do ask that you please talk to your babies and remind them to not touch anything that is not theirs in the classroom. The chairs are tempting toys as they have wheels. Please talk to them about the potential hazards of using chairs with wheels.

As you have noticed, my husband Richard has been in the classroom. Know that he is VIRTUS certified and fingerprinted. He was a Sacristan at our Parish for many years and assisted Deacon Ron in many Baptisms. He is also an Eucharistic Minister and is currently a mentor in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Catholic Bible Institute. He is clear to be in the classroom. He may look a bit scary and intimidating but he loves kids, he works at Covina High School and has been at that district for 27 years. All this to say, he's safe to be around your kids. When he is unavailable, I will try my hardest to bring our son Matthew to help. He is also VIRTUS certified, was an Altar Server for over 10 years at our Parish. He is also a school district employee and works with middle school students, and is also someone safe to be around your kids.

One last thing, you may have noticed the change in personnel in the office. Father Vu is now the Director of Religious Education. I will be working on getting you dates and information on the upcoming meetings, retreats, and Sacraments. I am a huge advocate for getting clear answers and truly immersing myself in the upcoming celebrations.

Hola y bendiciones a todos. Espero que hayan pasado un Día de Acción de Gracias lleno de amor, rodeados de toda su familia y amigos, y que hayan creado recuerdos que durarán muchos años.

Quería ponerles al día rápidamente:

La temporada de Adviento está a punto de comenzar, y pido a Dios que estén preparados para recibir a Nuestro Señor. Al igual que preparamos nuestros hogares para el nacimiento del Niño Jesús, preparémonos también nosotros mismos.

Los niños estarán atentos a los cambios en la iglesia. Los colores, especialmente la corona de Adviento, les pido que también les ayuden a señalar las cosas. La vela encendida, ¿qué significa y cómo podemos hacerlo nosotros, como buenos cristianos, esta semana? Busquen también los nuevos misales, muestren a los niños que ustedes también notan los cambios.

A todos los niños se les envió a casa un calendario de Adviento. Intenten seguir y participar en las actividades (si pueden) o modifíquenlas a su gusto.

Busquen formas de dar vida a esta temporada en su propio hogar, y les pido sinceramente desde el fondo de mi corazón que intenten mantenerse alejados del comercialismo de la temporada. A todos nos encantan los regalos y gastar dinero, pero nos perdemos en eso y nos olvidamos de prepararnos a nosotros mismos y a nuestros hogares para recibir el nacimiento de nuestro Salvador en un pesebre.

Como habrán notado, nos han cambiado de aula. El motivo es que la profesora de la clase que utilizábamos es un poco especial y no le gustaba que nuestros hijos tocaran, movieran o rompieran objetos de su clase. Hasta la fecha, no he recibido una respuesta clara sobre lo que ocurrió exactamente. Sucedió el día que tuve que asistir a un evento de trabajo.

Les pido que hablen con sus hijos y les recuerden que no toquen nada que no sea suyo en el aula. Las sillas son juguetes tentadores, ya que tienen ruedas, así que háblenles de los posibles peligros de usar sillas con ruedas.

Como habrán notado, mi esposo Richard ha estado en el aula. Sepan que tiene la certificación VIRTUS y le han tomado las huellas dactilares. Fue sacristán en nuestra parroquia durante muchos años y ayudó al diácono Ron en muchos bautizos. También es ministro eucarístico y actualmente es mentor en la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles, Instituto Bíblico Católico. Está autorizado para estar en el aula. Puede parecer un poco aterrador e intimidante, pero le encantan los niños, trabaja en la escuela secundaria Covina y lleva 27 años en ese distrito. Todo esto para decir que es seguro que esté cerca de sus hijos. Cuando él no esté disponible, haré todo lo posible por traer a nuestro hijo Matthew para que ayude. Él también tiene la certificación VIRTUS y fue monaguillo durante más de 10 años en nuestra parroquia. También es empleado del distrito escolar y trabaja con estudiantes de secundaria, por lo que también es alguien seguro para estar cerca de sus hijos.

Una última cosa, quizá hayáis notado el cambio de personal en la oficina. El padre Vu es ahora el director de Educación Religiosa. Yo me encargaré de facilitaros las fechas y la información sobre las próximas reuniones, retiros y sacramentos. Soy una gran defensora de obtener respuestas claras y de sumergirme de verdad en las próximas celebraciones.
